Josie's Comment:  The God of Israel Differentiates
Matthew 24:3 The disciples asked Yeshua  "What will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?
Matthew 24:6   For nation will rise up against nation and kingdom against kingdom.  And there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes

What days we are living in ! .   Threats, warnings, predictions and actual events  of natural catastrophies is beginning to become more and more frequent "breaking news" on our television screens. Most of these natural catastrophies appear to be of  an unprecedented  nature, exceeding any other similar event over the last 100 years. .

For us here in Israel, our most serious threat for thousands of years of course, has been war - the attack from our surrounding enemies, and terror,  And that still remains today more than ever before.  However, we too, here in Israel have had warnings of  a natural catastrophie by the way of an earthquake.  There has been a series of advertisements on the nightly Hebrew news here, warning of a possible earthquake and calling for the nation to be prepared, and to know what to do.

The God of Israel, because of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, (Psalm 105:6 - 11)  makes a difference between Israel and the nations. Does He want to once again make a distinct difference between Israel and the nations, not for our sake, because we certainly don't deserve it ?  Israel as nation, is full of abominable sin, just like most other nations, but for His name's sake, and so that He can confirm His word, and for Him to be made known to the other nations as the God of Israel -  the God who watches over Israel, .
How do I know that the God of Israel makes a difference between Israel and another nation ?    see he following scripture verses   ............

Exodus 9:4 And the Lord will make a difference between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt. So nothing shall die of all that belongs to the children of Israel  ( verse 6) so the Lord did this thing on the next day, and all the livestock of Egypt died, but of the livestock of the children of Israel, not one died

Exodus 10:22  So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt ( verse 23)  they did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for 3 days, but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings

Exodus 11:5 .............  and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on the throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the animals.

Exodus 11:7 But against none of the children of Israel shall a dog move its tongue against man or beast, that you may know that the Lord (God of Israel) makes a difference between the Egyptians and Israel

Why did the God of Israel want to make a difference between the Egyptians and Israel?  -  The answer is in Exodus 11:9  So that My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt  and  in Exodus 9:14... that you may know that there is none like Me in all the earth

The God of Israel wanted to be known as different from any other God, that there is no other God like Him in all the earth, He wanted to be made known as Israel's God , as El Gibor (hero/champion ) He used the opportunity in the midst of catastrophie to do this

I believe He wants to do this again, and  can do this again in Israel, for the one and only  reason, to show that He is Israel's God  and to make it known, once again, that there is  no other God like Him, amongst the gods of this world , and that He keeps His word, the word of covenant and promise  that were given to the prophets and patriachs of old for His people and nation , Israel.

There is a body of people here in the land of Israel that honors, acknowledges, lives for and worships the God of Israel.  It is up to us to call upon the Lord, as the prophets of old did, to ask for forgiveness for our national sins, but also to ask for His mercy in protecting us from our enemies, and in these days to protect us from devastation of a possible natural catastrophie,  and as He displays His wonders, He will be made known, as our God, the God of Israel.

I asked our son Stefan (who reads  biblical Hebrew) what the word difference said in the Hebrew and its true Hebrew translation. He told me that the word difference in the biblical Hebrew actually means discriminate. This, then, would give a much more powerful understanding and meaning  of the word,  and the context of the scriptures that use this word.

What does the word discriminate really mean.  I looked up in the dictionary. Here is what it said - Discriminate means to recognise or perceive the difference - marked by the ability to see or make fine distinctions , treat differently on the basis of sex or race ,  show preference or prejudice,  The act of discriminating, distinguishing, or noting and marking differences.  to set apart as being different,, to separate from another by discerning differences, to distinguish

The God of Israel discriminates between His people and nation,  (that of course includes all those that are non Jewish but are "grafted in" to Israel ) and the rest of the nations of the world.

Would you join with us, praying prophetically, for what lies ahead for Israel, that the God of Israel would keep His word and make a difference in Israel in our days of trouble, and it would cause the eyes of  the people of Israel's understanding  to be opened to the greatness of our God and that He is our God ..  And for the nations to know that Israel has a God, and there is none like Him in all the earth, just as He did with the Egyptians.

The Lord bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on the land given to the Jewish people by the God of Israel.  Lets pray that Israel will turn back to their God.  Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for that breakthrough to the Muslims,  and please remember to pray for all of the soldiers in the IDF -they are defending and fighting for the Kingdom of God.

Shabbat Shalom .... David & Josie

THIS WEEKS NEWS REPORTS

1. IDF Targets Hamas Operatives Ready to Fire Rockets    Ha Aretz  News   Mar 27th
The Israel Air Force killed two Palestinians and wounded three more in an attack on the northern Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to Palestinian media reports.  The five Palestinians were clustered just east of the Jabalya refugee camp at the time of the attack, said the reports. The Islamic Jihad militant group claimed the casualties as its members.  A spokeswoman for the Israel Defense Forces confirmed that an Israeli aircraft fired a missile at a group of militants in the enclave but gave no further details. According to Israel Radio and witnesses, they had been trying to launch a projectile at Israel.
In public remarks to his cabinet on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel has "no desire to escalate the situation", noting the frontier had been relatively quiet since the end of the December 2008-January 2009 Gaza war.  But he said: "We will not hesitate to use the might of the Israel Defense Forces against those who attack our citizens."    The strike came a day after Gaza groups signaled that they would halt rocket fire at Israel if the IDF stopped carrying out targeted attacks as well. The surge in cross-border violence over the last week has prompted fears of a possible escalation into war.
Fire along the Gaza border already dropped precipitously over the weekend, but the Israel Defense Forces fears the lull won't last for long. GOC Southern Command Maj. Gen. Tal Russo Saturday described the situation in the Gaza Strip as "anarchic," as the IDF prepares to deploy the first of the two available Iron Dome missile defense systems in the south on Monday morning.  The army has described the step as an "operational experiment," saying the deployment of the Iron Dome and beginning its actual use will take some time. The Israel Air Force stressed that even the first two batteries will not be enough, and that at least three more will be needed to provide ample defense from Gaza rocket attacks.  Three rockets were fired from the Strip into Israel in the past two days, with one damaging a house in the Eshkol Regional Council and another landing in an open field. Another struck on Saturday afternoon. No casualties were reported in any of the incidents.  Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Hamas political wing in Gaza and the Palestinian prime minister, is pushing for a return to the relative quiet in the south, but senior officials in the Islamist organization, including some in the armed wing, disagree.
Please pray that the IDF will bring the Gaza situation under proper control

2. Gunmen Target Israel - Jordan Gas Pipeline    HA Aretz News  Mar 27th
Gunmen have targeted a pipeline carrying natural gas from Egypt to Israel and Jordan, for the second time in less than two months.  A security official said six individuals overpowered a lone guard early Sunday morning at a gas terminal in El-Sabil, a village west of the northern Sinai city of El-Arish.  The men planted explosive at the facility and fled. But the timer failed to detonate the explosives and soldiers were able to defuse the device. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief the media.   A bomb placed at another gas terminal along the pipeline blew up, halting gas exports to Israel and Jordan on February 5. The flow resumed on March 16, a month and a half after the attack.   During the interim, while the Electric Corp. waited for the Egyptian gas supply to resume, it bought fuel from the Tethys Sea group, which includes the American energy company Noble Energy, Delek Group and Avner. But it had to pay a higher price. Please pray that all such israeli pipelines be supernaturally protected

3. IDF:  We Need to Hit Gaza Harder    Isrlle Today News  March 28th
Senior Israeli army officers on Sunday worried that the current response to escalating missile attacks from Gaza is tipping the balance in favor of Hamas and its terrorist allies.  Speaking to Israel’s Ynet news portal, the officers noted that following previous escalations, Israel had responded with overwhelming force, creating a deterrence against further attacks for a period of time.  Following Israel’s invasion of Gaza in late 2008 and early 2009 “a very clear equation was created whereby the IDF responds disproportionately to any violation of the state of calm,” said one officer. “Ever so often there were attempts to test us but a harsh response together with deterrence achieved by the operation had sent the message until the next time.”   But Israel’s military response to the Gaza rocket and mortar barrage that began last week and saw medium-range missiles hit cities near Tel Aviv has been significantly more tempered.   On top of that, the government has sought to alleviate public fears by deploying the still-experimental Iron Dome anti-missile system, which even Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned cannot and will not stop all Palestinian missiles from hitting Israeli cities.  In short, instead of responding to force with even greater force, Israel this time around has responded to force by putting up a shield. The officers who spoke out believe this is a mistake, as the terrorists are constantly testing Israel’s resolve, and if they believe Israel is becoming weak, their next attack will be even bigger.
Speaking in Beersheva on Sunday, Knesset Member Shaul Mofaz, current chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, said Israel should return to its policy of assassinating leading terrorists in the Gaza Strip.  “Israel can not hide behind the Iron Domedefense system while in Gaza life goes on,” said Mofaz. “We must maintain our ability to attack and preserve the IDF’s role as a deterrent. Without a deterrent, the Palestinian organizations are the ones that will dictate the agenda.”
Please pray that the Israeli military will take all necessary steps to defend the nation

4. Abbas Would Favour Relationship With Hamas Over Relationship With America    Israel Today News   Mar 28th
Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, widely hailed as a pro-Western liberal, would drop his relationship wth the US in order to reconcile with the Islamic terrorist organization Hamas.   That according to Azzam Ahmed, a top advisor to Abbas.  Ahmed told the Associated Press on Monday that “the Palestinans need American money, but if they use it as a way of pressuring us, we are ready to relinquish that aid.”   Ahmed was responding to concerns that the US Congress could curtail hundreds of millions of dollars in annual aid to Abbas’ regime if it goes through with efforts to forge a unity government with Hamas.   Hamas won the 2006 Palestinan parliamentary election, but Abbas prevented the group from exercising the full power granted to it by that victory. A year later, Hamas seized control of the Gaza Strip in a blood-soaked coup. Since then, Hamas and Abbas’ Fatah-led government have been at odds.   This week, Abbas announced that he was ready to visit Gaza personally, putting his own life at risk, in order to mend relations with Hamas. Israel sees the overture as indicative of the Palestinian regime’s true intentions, as Hamas remains dedicated to the destruction of the Jewish state.  “Abbas has to choose whether he wants peace with Israel, or peace with Hamas,” an Israeli government official told The Jerusalem Post. “He can’t have both. If he chooses peace with Hamas, it will bury the peace process.”
Please pray that the Americans will wake up to the cunnign & deceit of the so called Palestinians

5.  UN Leader Tells Israel to Surrender  the Land    Israel Today News   Mar 30th
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday reiterated that the world body expects Israel to immediately surrender to internationally-backed Arab demands that it relinquish all claims to the Jews’ biblical heartland of Judea and Samaria and half of their ancient capital of Jerusalem.   The Jewish presence in the so-called “West Bank,” which includes the eastern half of Jerusalem, is “morally and politically unsustainable, and must end,” Ban insisted during a press conference in Uruguay.  Meanwhile, the Palestinians are moving forward plans to unilaterally declare an independent state with the support of the UN, outside the framework of a land-for-peace deal with Israel.
Palestinian leaders indicated that they will make such a move later this year. The motion is almost certain to be shot down in the UN Security Council, where the US exercises veto power, but will be widely adopted by the UN General Assembly, which most will see as more than adequate for “Palestine” to be declared a state. Israeli officials are busy lobbying various nations against supporting this move. But diplomats fear their efforts are bearing little fruit, since Israel is not presenting any kind of alternative plan or process.
Many within Israel are urging Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop playing the diplomatic game by the Arab world’s rules, and to instead begin insisting that the UN approach the peace process from the viewpoint that the West Bank and Jerusalem are disputed territories, where Jews have just as much, if not more, claim than local Palestinian Arabs.
But it is likely too late for that. And if it comes down to the UN General Assembly recognizing “Palestine,” Israel may be forced into desperate action.  An unnamed Israeli official told the Associated Press on Tuesday that if the Palestinians seek recognition of their sovereignty in the UN, Israel may annex the parts of the West Bank most populated by Jews - the much-maligned “settlement blocs.”  Israel already annexed the eastern half of Jerusalem decades ago, but that decision is all but ignored by the international community.
Please pray that the Lord will deal with the UN as required to prevent the delcaration of a Palestinian state

6. Palestinians Mark 'Land Day' Amid Diplomatic Offensive   ICEJ News  Mar 31st
Israel Radio reported on Thursday that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has rejected a demand by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he choose between peace with Israel and a national unity government with the Islamist terrorist militia Hamas.  His remarks came a day after PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad gave a speech to mark Land Day in which he praised "nonviolent popular resistance" against Israeli security measures including the Separation Barrier and settlements declaring that such resistance would eventually lead to the Palestinians "ridding themselves of occupation."
He also re-iterated the PA's "commitment to non-violence" saying it was the only way to maintain the credibility of the Palestinian national cause, a claim that was met with scorn by at least one Israeli official.  "Israel would welcome this 'path of nonviolence' if it were true," the official said. "It would signify a fundamental change in the way the Palestinians conduct their affairs. If they think what they are doing now is nonviolent, then I think we have a disagreement over what nonviolence means."   Wednesday saw demonstrations in Arab villages and large cities all over Israel on Wednesday to mark the  35th annual Land Day, an Israeli Arab day of protest against government policies towards the Arab community. The annual day of protest features a general strike by Arab workers and large protest rallies, which this year as usual were mostly peaceful.
Please pray that Israel will not give away, cut up, or trade the Lord's land

7.  Israel Opens Field Hospital in Japan   Israel Today News  Mar 29
The Israeli army on Tuesday officially opened the doors of its field hospital in the devastated northern regions of Japan.  The clinic is situated just outside Minamisanriku, a village that was all but destroyed by the tsunami that followed the massive March 11 earthquake off Japan’s northeastern coast.  The facility includes surgical, pediatrics and maternity wards, an intensive care unit, a pharmacy and a laboratory. The buildings for the clinic were built by the Japanese government, and the 58-man IDF Medical Corps and Home Front Command team is being housed at a nearby hotel.   The Israelis brought along their own medical equipment and supplies, as well as their own food and water so as to not further tax the already-limited local resources. Also on hand are several officials from Israel Atomic Energy Commission to make sure radiation levels in the area do not get too high.
On Monday, several of the Israeli officers spoke to Japanese reporters asking them to publicize the opening of the clinic so that victims in the area know where to find assistance and treatment.  Israeli Ambassador to Japan Nissim Ben Shitreet thanked the Japanese authorities and volunteerts on the ground for not only accepting Israel’s help, but assisting the set-up of the clinic.   “The Japanese people in the affected area went above and beyond to help us,” said Sheetrit. “The assistance of the Japenese from the moment the aid delegation landed in Japan has been exemplary.”   Japan’s Ambassador to Israel, Haruhisa Takeuchi, in turn delivered a heart-felt thank you to the medical delegation:   “I thank you, the crew of medical personnel, from the bottom of my heart, for volunteering to help in the aftermath of this tragedy and for carrying out this difficult mission.”    The ambassador also thanked the entire nation of Israel for standing so strongly by his nation: “In this difficult hour, we will remember the warm and merciful embrace, the goodwill and the solidarity of the people of Israel. …Your support is a source of hope and encouragment.”
